Anti-Aging, words that seem to be synonymous with products for “women” of a certain age category. You see them all the time, the commercials with celebrities endorsing skincare products that they claim to have kept them youthful for all these years. In actuality, those products were just introduced to the market, so how could that be? Hmm, seems a bit strange to me. But I digress. I am far from any of these celebrities that have the funds to keep their faces on point at all times with the latest skincare advances, and the treatments that are the hot topic of the moment. But what I can say with all honesty is that at my age, whenever I show someone my identification, I get the reaction of shock when my date of birth is revealed. I am not saying this to boast, but I state this to share what I believe has assisted me in keeping my youthful look. Yes, genetics may have a little something to do with it, but I will definitely attribute it to my intake of water. Yes, I said it; WATER!

Water is affordable, anyone can get access to it, and although I have combination skin that tends to get breakouts here and there, I get complimented on my skin on numerous occasions, and I think I can give water a lot of credit for this.  I don’t wear a lot of makeup (I have to have my eyelash extensions).  My skin is far from perfect, and I don’t really believe anyone has perfect skin. There are just too many environmental assaults on a daily basis that we are all confronted with that causes skin issues. But you don’t have to get it from a needle injected into your face. You can drink your way to a more youthful glow, as a preventive measure of course. Water cannot reverse years and years of sun damage and other issues that one may have been subjected to.

As infants, our bodies are made of 70-78{d8c2f33ff9ae9eafce876a19029c89ad6f1aebb0b3c65937f388379004b3a1d8} water. As we age, that percentage declines to about 50-75{d8c2f33ff9ae9eafce876a19029c89ad6f1aebb0b3c65937f388379004b3a1d8}. As you know as we begin to age, our skin gets more sallow and dehydrated, and it’s almost like overnight you start to see lines and creases where there were none.  So it is upon us to give our bodies what it is lacking. Keeping our bodies hydrated keeps our skin moist from the inside, and plumps us up naturally. If you are drinking alcohol, it depletes our body of moisture and is a big dehydrator.

I’m not against a cocktail here or there, but you may want to consume three glasses of water per cocktail. I’m not a doctor, but it’s just a suggestion. So it is imperative to continually replenish your body with the natural fluids it needs. We should be consuming half our body weight in ounces of water per day. And it doesn’t hurt if you go over that amount. You do not want to go overboard, as there is a such thing as water poisoning. It is a hard thing to do, but don’t go and try to drink 10 gallons of water in a day to catch up on what you haven’t been doing over the years. Just start where you are. So if you weigh 150 pounds you should be drinking at least 75 ounces of water daily.

This is what I do to prepare myself. I have water bottles that I fill from my filtered water from the refrigerator every Sunday, one for each day of the week. These water bottles have my recommended ounces of water (just a little more honestly, as it gets hot here in the South, so a little more water will never hurt me).

My daily water intake

My daily water intake

First thing in the morning I brush my teeth, and I drink a huge swig from my water bottle.  I drink about half of the water bottle from the time I wake up until about noon.  Then throughout the rest of the day until about 6pm, I drink casually until it is all gone.  And I do like a little flavor at times, so I use a product called Eco Drink, which was introduced to me by a friend, and it really has made my water experience more of a treat than a duty. It contains no sugar, calories, carbs, or sodium. And it’s an awesome way to get your recommended daily essential vitamins and minerals. The flavors come in Orange, Blueberry Pomegranate, and my favorite, Peach Mango. Just add the packet to your water, shake it up and get to drinking!

Also what will help you to drink your recommended ounces of water each day is not to think of it as a chore or a duty, but think of it as a beauty regimen. More importantly, think of it as LIFE. Have you ever been to the hospital or visited someone in the hospital? What is the first thing they will give the patient? An IV! Your body needs fluids, and the IV bags have the water and necessary electrolytes for your health. So let’s stay a step ahead of the doctors, and keep our bodies hydrated!

Wishing You Beauty, Love & Prosperity
